We build the website. Then we automate the work behind it.

A two-person studio with two trades. We build small business websites by hand and keep them running — and we take the repetitive admin behind them off your desk.

Start with a conversation Booking our first projects now
02The gap

Small businesses
get sold either
nothing or nonsense.

On websites: a template a relative built in an afternoon that nobody has touched since — or an agency job costing thousands that takes months and still needs a support ticket to change the opening hours.

On automation it's worse. Right now every consultant in the country is selling "AI transformation" to people who just want their enquiries to stop falling through the cracks.

Both of our trades are the boring version of that. Real work, plainly described, at a price a small business can approve without a board meeting.

03Two trades
Trade I

Websites

Designed and written for your business, built by hand, then hosted and kept up to date so it never goes stale.

  • 01Custom design, up to five pages
  • 02All the copy written for you
  • 03Search setup done properly
  • 04Hosting, upkeep and your edits

$750, invoiced at launch · then $25/mo

Trade II

Automation & agents

The repetitive parts of running the business, handed to software. Enquiries filed, messages sorted, replies drafted, nothing lost.

  • 01One agent, trained on your business
  • 02Up to three workflows feeding it
  • 03A free audit if you just want the plan
  • 04Monitoring and fixes once it's live

$2,000, invoiced at handover · then $120/mo

Take one or both. Plenty of people will only ever want a website, and that's a complete job on its own.

04Trade I — what gets built

Every website build includes the whole list. There's no stripped-back tier where the important parts cost extra.

  • Custom design, drawn for your businessIncluded
  • Hand-written code — no page builders, no themesIncluded
  • All the words written for youIncluded
  • Phone, tablet and desktop layoutsIncluded
  • Contact and enquiry forms to your inboxIncluded
  • Search setup — titles, sitemap, Google Business ProfileIncluded
  • Photo preparation and compressionIncluded
  • Two rounds of revisionsIncluded
  • Domain registered in your name, on your cardIncluded
  • Homepage design, before you pay anythingFree
  • Anything at all before the site is live$0

On search, specifically

We'll set up the things that let Google index you properly — titles, descriptions, a sitemap, your Google Business Profile connected.

What we won't do is promise you a position. Nobody can honestly promise that, and anyone who does is guessing with your money.

On the words

We write the copy as part of the build, from a conversation with you. You approve every line before it goes live. No lorem ipsum, and nothing published in your name that you haven't read.

The next three boards
are not real clients.

JBG Designs has not built a website for a paying client yet, and has not built an automation for one either. We started this in 2026 and we're looking for our first two.

So the three designs that follow are invented. The businesses don't exist. We made up the names, the briefs and the problems, and then designed a site for each one — the way an architect draws a house nobody has commissioned, to show how they'd build it.

They are shown here for one reason only: so you can judge our work before you hire us. Nothing on them is a claim about results, revenue, or a real customer's experience.

  • 01Northside Dental — fictional
  • 02Harbor & Oak Roasters — fictional
  • 03Ridgeline Landscaping — fictional

The same goes for the automation example later on. The first real one will have a real client's name on it. It could be yours.

Northside Dental

An imagined family practice, to show how we'd handle a business that lives or dies on appointments. Warm palette instead of clinical blue, treatment prices published openly, and a booking bar fixed to the bottom of every phone screen.

  • 01Booking bar pinned to the foot of the phone layout
  • 02Prices published for the ten most common treatments
  • 03A plain-English page on what a first visit involves
  • 04Insurance logos high on the page — the first real question

Harbor & Oak Roasters

An imagined two-person roastery, to show how we'd handle a shop. Built around the roast calendar rather than the brand story: what was roasted this week, when it ships, and a checkout that doesn't demand an account first.

  • 01Roast dates on the front page — freshness is the product
  • 02Standing order framed as "skip any week", not a commitment
  • 03Guest checkout, three fields
  • 04Dark layout so the photography carries the page

Ridgeline Landscaping

An imagined four-person crew, to show how we'd handle a trade that quotes every job. A quote form doing the work the phone used to: five questions, a photo upload, and a service-area map so out-of-range jobs filter themselves out.

  • 01Before-and-after slider — a visual purchase needs pictures
  • 02Photo upload first; one photo beats five minutes of description
  • 03Starting ranges published per service
  • 04Service-area map to filter out-of-range enquiries
09Trade II — what this actually means

Nobody needs
"AI transformation".

What people need is for the same twenty minutes of typing not to happen every single day. Automation usans the software does the copying, filing and chasing — and tells you when something needs a human.

Tuesday, as it is now

  • An enquiry arrives while you're on a job
  • You see it Thursday, under forty other emails
  • You retype their details into your spreadsheet
  • You write the same reply you wrote last week
  • Two of them you never got back to at all

Tuesday, once it's set up

  • The enquiry files itself the moment it lands
  • A text hits your phone with the job summary
  • They get an acknowledgement inside a minute
  • A reply is drafted for you, ready to check and send
  • Anything unanswered after a day nudges you

No robots, no dashboards, no strategy deck. Just the typing you were going to do anyway, done before you get to it.

10Trade II — what we build
The agent

What it does

Trained on your prices, services and policies, so it answers the way you would.

  • ·Drafts replies in your words, for you to check
  • ·Sorts and routes the inbox by what things actually are
  • ·Pulls the details out of messy enquiries
  • ·Answers the questions you answer forty times a month
The plumbing

What feeds it

Up to three workflows connecting the tools you already pay for. Included, not extra.

  • ·Enquiries filed into your CRM or sheet automatically
  • ·Text or email alerts when something needs you
  • ·Bookings, invoices and reminders sent on schedule
  • ·Follow-up chasers so nothing goes cold
One agent, built and running $2,000

One price. Up to three connected workflows included. Then $120 a month to monitor, fix and change it, and your AI usage at cost on top.

Not sure what's worth automating?

The audit is free. Half a day going through where your time actually goes, ending in a written list of what can be automated and what it would save. No charge, no obligation, and the plan is yours to keep — including if you take it to somebody else.

11An example — not a client
Illustration · nobody's real workflow

One enquiry,
end to end.

This is the shape of the most common thing we'd build. It is drawn to explain the service — it is not a screenshot of work done for anybody.

  1. Step 01It lands

Someone fills in the form on your site at 9:41 on a Tuesday night.

  2. Step 02It files itself

Name, job, address and photos written straight into your CRM or sheet. No retyping.

  3. Step 03You're told

A text reaches your phone with the job summary and how urgent it looks.

  4. Step 04They're answered

An acknowledgement goes out in your words — your hours, and what happens next.

  5. Step 05Nothing is lost

If it's still unanswered tomorrow, it nudges you. Twice, then it escalates.

This is one of the three workflows a $2,000 agent build includes — not a separate charge. AI usage on top, at cost: for something this size, typically a few dollars a month.

12Where this helps, and where it doesn't

An agent will
get things wrong.

Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. So everything we build assumes it, and is arranged so a mistake costs you a minute rather than a customer.

What it's genuinely good at

  • +Moving information between tools without typos
  • +Reading a messy message and pulling the details out
  • +Drafting a reply from what you've already written down
  • +Sorting, tagging and routing by what something is
  • +Doing the same dull thing at 2am without complaint

What we won't let it do

  • ×Send anything to your customers unreviewed, unless you tell us in writing to turn that on
  • ×Spend money, issue refunds, or commit you to a price
  • ×Make the judgement calls that are the actual job
  • ×Replace a person — it removes typing, not staff
  • ×Be trusted on anything you can't check in ten seconds

Default setting on everything we build: a human sees it before a customer does. You can overrule that once you trust it, and plenty of people do — but it starts off cautious.

13How the work runs

You see it before you buy it.

Nobody should wire money to a stranger on the internet on the strength of a proposal document. So the risky part happens first — free on websites, and cheap and refundable on automation.

Stage I

A twenty-minute conversation

No charge · either trade

Not a sales call. What you sell, who buys it, and where the time goes. If we're not the right fit we'll say so and point you elsewhere.

Stage II

You see the thing first

Free · both trades

Websites: a real clickable homepage for your business, at no cost. Automation: a free half-day audit and a written plan of what's worth automating — yours to keep whether you hire us or not.

Stage III

You approve, then we build

Nothing until it is live

Websites: every page, layout, form and search setup — and you pay nothing while we do it. The $750 is invoiced once, the day the site goes live on your domain. Automation: built, connected to your tools, and tested against your real cases before it touches anything live.

Stage IV

It goes live, we look after it

From $25/mo · cancel anytime

We put it live and send a short video showing how it works. Then we host it, watch it, and fix it when something upstream changes — which, with automation, it eventually will.

Trade II — Automation

The agent$2,000
One agent trained on your business, plus up to three connected workflows. One price, invoiced at handover. + $120/mo to monitor, fix and change it.
Not included: AI usage Running an agent costs real money per message — usually a few dollars a month for a small business, more if it's busy. We bill it at cost and show you the provider's invoice. We don't mark it up, and we won't bundle it into a flat fee and quietly keep the difference.

Take one trade or both. No contract, no minimum term, no cancellation fee on any of it — and everything we build stays yours, including the automations.

15What we don't do

We build it and
We keep it running.
That's the trade.

We don't run your ads. We don't manage your social accounts. We don't do SEO campaigns, and we won't send you a monthly report implying we caused your good month.

We also don't track how much business any of this brings in — we'd be guessing, and a guess dressed up as a number is just a nicer kind of lie.

On the automation side we won't quote you a percentage saved, promise a headcount reduction, or sell you an agent for something a five-line rule would fix.

If you want analytics installed so you can look at the numbers yourself, say so and we'll set it up at no charge. Your data, your account.

16The awkward questions
You're new. Why should I risk it on you?
You shouldn't have to risk much, which is why it's arranged so you don't. On websites we design your homepage before you pay a cent. On automation the audit is free and the plan is yours to keep — so you can find out exactly what we'd do, and what it would save, before deciding anything.
Have you actually built any of this for a paying client?
No — not a website and not an automation. You'd be among the first. We'd rather tell you that plainly than dress up invented projects as a portfolio, which is why every sample on this site is labelled as invented, in several places each.
Everyone is selling AI right now. Why are you different?
Mostly we're not, and we'd be careful of anyone claiming to be. The differences we'd actually stand behind: we tell you what an agent is bad at before you buy, we bill AI usage at cost instead of bundling it, we won't sell you an agent for a job a simple rule would do, and everything we build is yours to take elsewhere.
What if the automation breaks?
It eventually will — some tool you use changes an API or a login expires, and it stops. That's what the monthly covers: we're monitoring it, we usually find out before you do, and fixing it is included rather than billed. If it's broken because we built it wrong, that's on us and always free.
Will an agent send things to our customers without me seeing them?
Not unless you tell us in writing to turn that on. Everything ships with a human check on anything leaving your business. Once you've watched it work for a few weeks you can loosen that — plenty of people do — but it's your call, made deliberately, not a default we set for you.
Why is the AI usage billed separately?
Because it's genuinely variable and we'd have to pad the monthly to cover a busy month. For most small businesses it's a few dollars a month. We pass it through at cost and show you the provider's bill — that way a quiet month costs you less rather than earning me more.
Why is this so much cheaper than the agency that quoted me?
No office, no account manager, no project coordinator, no salesperson taking a cut. You're talking to the person doing the work. We're also pricing low on purpose while we build a portfolio — this is the ground floor, and we don't intend to keep it here.
What happens if you disappear?
Your domain is registered in your name on your card. Your site files are yours and you get a copy at launch. Automations are built in tools you own the account for, not on a platform of mine — so if we vanish, they keep running and any competent person can take them over.
Can I cancel the monthly?
Any month, no phone call, no retention script. Cancel and we hand over everything the same week. The monthly exists because unmaintained things rot — not to trap you.
Will you tell us how many customers this brought in?
No, and we'd be wary of anyone who promises to. We're builders, not a marketing agency. If you want analytics so you can look yourself, we'll install it free.
Will I rank first on Google?
We can't promise that and neither can anyone else honestly. We'll do the groundwork that lets Google understand your site. Where you land depends on your competition, your reviews and your area.
What counts as a "small edit"?
On a website: text, prices, hours, photos, staff, a service on an existing page. On an automation: changing who gets alerted, adjusting the wording, adding a field. A whole new page, a redesign, or a new workflow is new work, and we'll quote it before doing anything.
How much of our time will this take?
A website is about two hours of yours in total. An automation needs a little more up front — we have to watch how you actually work before we can automate it — but that's what the audit half-day is for, and after that it's mostly me.

JBG Designs is two people, and that is the whole company.

We started it because we kept noticing the same thing: good businesses — the ones people genuinely recommend to their neighbours — with websites that made them look like they'd shut down in 2014, and owners losing an evening a week to typing things from one screen into another.

Both problems have the same shape. The businesses that would benefit most are the ones least able to spend agency money finding out. So we do proper custom work at a price a plumber, a dentist or a two-person roastery can approve without a board meeting.

One of us builds and one of us looks after you. Jase does the design, the code and the automation. Bennett handles everything else — the first call, the questions, the chasing, and telling you plainly when something has slipped. You will never be handed to a stranger, because there is nobody else to hand you to.

We're new at both trades and we've said so on every board where it matters. What we have instead of a client list is time, real attention on the few projects we take, and an offer arranged so the burden of proof sits with us rather than you.

You get the two of us on the phone, not a queue and not a handover. That is the whole advantage of being small, and we intend to keep it.
